Medically-reviewed online content and resources for people with this form of liver disease
SAN FRANCISCO/February 16, 2024 — MyHealthTeam, creator of the largest and fastest-growing portfolio of social networks for people facing chronic health conditions, announced today that it has launched myPBCteam, a social network for people living with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). This online educational community provides medically-reviewed articles, videos, and resources about living with this chronic, progressive liver disease in which the bile ducts become inflamed and damaged.
myPBCteam is also the only social network dedicated to people who have the same condition. It is a safe place to share and gain practical advice, insights and emotional support from peers who are also managing life, treatment or therapies for primary biliary cholangitis (PBC).

Women make up 90% of PBC diagnoses, and researchers estimate that in the United States, 65 out of every 100,000 women are afflicted. PBC is an autoimmune disease that causes progressive destruction of the bile ducts. Bile is a substance produced by the liver to facilitate digestion. In primary biliary cirrhosis, the bile ducts develop inflammation and eventually collapse. This causes liver damage and may eventually lead to cirrhosis. Currently, there is no cure, but medications can help delay the condition’s progression. Treatment focuses on monitoring and managing complications. In severe cases, a liver transplant may be required.
“Being diagnosed with PBC is a scary experience that raises all sorts of questions in your mind,” said Eric Peacock, co-founder and CEO of MyHealthTeam. “Our goal is to help people with PBC see around the next corner by making it easy for them to learn about how PBC progresses, what they can do to slow progression, and how other people are coping with the condition.”
The social network includes:
